Your information. A clear explanation.
The website prepares your enquiry locally. You choose when to share it by WhatsApp, email or phone. The sections below explain what happens before and after you contact us.
01Who we are and how to contact us
Elevator Holdings provides lift and related engineering services in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Elevator Holdings. We are responsible for personal information we receive and use to manage enquiries and our business relationships. Personal information means information that identifies a person or can reasonably be linked to them, and includes information about a business where applicable.
This policy explains how we handle information when you visit this website, contact us, ask for a quotation or discuss our services. It is intended to support the requirements of South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
For privacy questions or requests, email us at elevatorholdingssa@
02Information you may provide
The information relevant to an enquiry or service relationship may include:
- Your name, business name, role, telephone number and email address.
- Your building’s town, suburb or site address and the service you require.
- Details of a lift or other equipment, project requirements, access arrangements, drawings, photographs and documents you choose to share.
- Correspondence, quotation details, service instructions and related business records.
- Billing and transaction information if an enquiry becomes a service engagement.
The website form asks for your name, service selection and building location. Your telephone number and additional project details are optional. The form does not accept file uploads or payments. You can share relevant attachments separately by email or WhatsApp if needed.
Please provide only information needed for your enquiry. Do not send passwords, identity documents, banking credentials, medical information or other sensitive details through the general enquiry form.
03Where information comes from and your choices
We generally receive information directly from you by email, WhatsApp, telephone or during discussions about a project. We may also receive relevant information from someone acting for you, such as a property manager, building owner or authorised project representative. If you share another person’s details, make sure you have authority or another lawful reason to do so and let them know about this policy.
Contacting us is voluntary. The fields marked “required” are needed to prepare a useful enquiry through the form; they do not mean you are legally obliged to use the form. You can call or email instead. If essential contact or project information is missing, we may be unable to respond, assess requirements or provide the requested service.
04Why we use personal information
We use information relevant to the following purposes:
- Responding to questions and discussing the service or equipment you need.
- Assessing requirements, preparing quotations and arranging site discussions.
- Managing instructions, service delivery, customer support and follow-up communication.
- Maintaining appropriate business, financial and service records.
- Protecting our website and communications, resolving disputes and meeting legal duties.
Depending on the circumstances, processing may be based on your consent, steps connected to a contract, a legal obligation, or a legitimate interest recognised by POPIA. We limit our use to the purpose for which information was supplied or another compatible, lawful purpose. Visiting the website does not give blanket consent to unrelated uses of your information.
05How the enquiry form and WhatsApp work
The form prepares a message in your browser. Selecting “Continue on WhatsApp” first creates an editable draft on this page. It does not submit the form to a website database, send an email or automatically send a WhatsApp message to Deon.
When you select “Continue in WhatsApp” beneath the draft, your browser opens a WhatsApp link containing that draft. This passes the message text to WhatsApp’s service so you can review and send it there. Deon receives the message when you send it. If you select “Copy message”, the draft is copied to your device’s clipboard instead.
This website does not intentionally save your form entries in cookies, local storage or a server-side enquiry database. Your browser may retain form values, browsing history or clipboard content according to its own settings. Once you send an email or WhatsApp message, that correspondence becomes part of the information we receive and handle.
08Email, external services and international processing
Our contact email addresses use Google’s Gmail service, and our WhatsApp links use WhatsApp. Selecting an email link opens your chosen email application; you decide whether to send the message. These providers may process account, message or technical information on infrastructure outside South Africa.
Where we arrange an international transfer of personal information, an applicable basis and appropriate protection under POPIA must be in place. Contact us if you need information about a transfer relating to your enquiry. Simply contacting us does not waive your privacy rights or amount to unrestricted consent to international transfers.
For details of the providers’ own processing, read the Google Privacy Policy and the WhatsApp Privacy Policy. This policy does not control websites or applications operated by other organisations.
09How long information is kept
We retain information for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or for a lawful retention requirement. The appropriate period depends on whether an enquiry remains active, whether it leads to work, ongoing service or warranty needs, relevant accounting and legal obligations, and any dispute or claim.
When information is no longer needed and there is no lawful reason to keep it, it should be securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified. Retention may need to continue where a legal duty or legitimate requirement prevents immediate deletion. Email, messaging providers and backups may operate their own retention arrangements. Ask us about the period applicable to a particular record if you need more detail.
10Security and information incidents
We seek to protect personal information through reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information and the risks involved. These include limiting access to people who need it and considering the security of the services used to handle it. No website, email account or messaging service can guarantee absolute security.
If you suspect that information shared with Elevator Holdings has been misused or exposed, contact Deon promptly. Where a security compromise triggers notification duties under POPIA, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected people as required by law, subject to any lawful exceptions or directions.
11Your privacy rights and requests
Subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions, you may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold personal information about you and provide access to it.
- Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
- Delete information or restrict its use where the law allows this.
- Consider an objection to processing on legally recognised grounds.
- Stop processing based on consent when you withdraw that consent.
- Stop using your details for direct marketing.
Send your request to elevatorholdingssa@
This website does not use profiling or automated decisions that determine your eligibility for services or have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Enquiries are handled through direct communication.
12Service messages and direct marketing
Making an enquiry does not automatically subscribe you to a newsletter or marketing list. We may contact you to answer your question, discuss a quotation or manage requested work. Any separate electronic direct marketing must have a lawful basis under POPIA, including consent or the limited existing-customer provisions where applicable.
You can object to direct marketing or ask us to stop it by replying to the communication or contacting Deon. This does not prevent essential messages about an ongoing service, transaction or legal matter.
13Children’s information
This website is intended for people enquiring about buildings and engineering services. It is not directed at children, and we do not intentionally request personal information from anyone under 18 through the website. A parent, guardian or other competent person should contact us if a child’s information has been provided so that we can assess the situation and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
14Questions and complaints
We welcome the opportunity to address a privacy concern. Email us at elevatorholdingssa@
You may also complain directly to South Africa’s Information Regulator if you believe your personal information has been handled unlawfully. You do not have to obtain our permission first. The Regulator’s complaints page explains its current process, and its contact page provides current contact details.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website, our services or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Where a change requires a separate notice or fresh consent, we will take the steps required by law. An update does not remove your rights over information already supplied.
You can read the Protection of Personal Information Act for the underlying legal framework. Contact us if you would like clarification of anything in this policy.
